Pink bird ‘Stella’ won at Gold Panda awards

The girlie spin-off from Angry Birds ‘Stella’ was awarded as the best overseas animated tv series at Sichuan TV festival in Chengdu. Gold Panda awards are one of the most regarded Chinese film and tv prizes in many categories.

The Grand Prix in animation went this year to the local box-office hit Monkey King: The Hero is back. In the same category with Stella there was nominations from France, UK, Korea and Denmark. The feature film category in the international competition went to France for Yellowbird and the short film to Poland. The special prize for the best animated character was given to Singapore based animation company One Animation for its creation Oddbods. 

The conferences and the TV market in Chengdu lasted until Sunday the 8th of November. Finnanimation’s executive director Liisa Vähäkylä was present at the event and a jury member as well for the 2nd time. Finnanimation also had a larger delegation in 2013 to attend the event with the special Finland Day in the programme.
