The Finnish animated non-verbal preschool series Pikkuli has been sold to Germany’s MDR for broadcast on KiKA. The series will air between the 19th of August and the 13th of September 2016 from Monday to Friday at 7:05AM.
Following the show’s success so far, producer Sun In Eye Productions is now preparing for production of season 2, comprising another 26 episodes.
Sales agency Monster Entertainment and Sun-in-Eye will be looking for broadcast partners for both season 1 and 2 at MIPJunior in Cannes later this year.
The 26 x 5 minute series follows a warmhearted and stubborn little bird. With the 5-year-old child’s curiosity and openness Pikkuli explores the world both with his family and happy friends. With Pikkuli the young audience will learn that the life of the bird can be both marvellous and sometimes complicated especially if you are the youngest member in a family.
Sun In Eye Productions has developed Pikkuli as a 360 concept with funny mobile apps and games inspired by the TV series. With these apps it is possible to play drums with Woody’s old car, sing with Hazel Grouse’s Chicks, try to find the lost Chicks in the Mole’s maze or explore Pikkuli’s exciting Play House!
Pikkuli has been earlier acquired by YLE 2 and YLE Fem in Finland, TV Catalonia in Spain, Hop! In Israel, C4U Media and Kids Talk Talk in Korea, RTS in Slovakia, Galapagos VOD service in Poland, Urania for Czech Republic and Slovakia, Hayat TV in Bosnia and Herzegovina, KMBO for theatrical exhibition in France and Ocean New Wave for US. Pikkuli has also made a nest at the Hopster app.
