Disney has now picked Harri and Bip,a new animated series produced by Finland’s Ink and Light, up for all of Central Europe, Africa and Asia in a deal announced by distributor Monster Entertainment. Harri ja Bip is directed by Leevi Lemmetty.
The animated comedy follows two energetic penguins in their quest for the three ‘F’s – Fun, Fish and new Friends.
The CG animation will premiere on Tiny Two (Pikku Kakkonen) this May and it has also been bought by RTE in Ireland and SRC in Canada.
Harri ja Bip was supported by Finnish Film Foundation, YLE, RTE, Irish Film Board and S.481, the support incentives for the Irish film industry provided by the Government of Ireland.
Producer Tamsin Lyons said “We are so delighted that Disney has picked up the show and found a spot for Harri ja Bip in their roster of exceptional programming. Obviously we have all grown up loving Disney animation and so the channel and the name carry that extra special meaning for us. Its an exciting time when you can finally share your hard work with audiences, wherever they are all over the world.”
Harri ja Bip is just the latest adventure for its eponymous penguins. The series was adapted from Pipopingviini – a children’s book and short film project released in 2015.
Harri ja Bip premieres in Finland on 27th May at 9.50 on Pikku Kakkonen.
